Waiting list policy
This policy explains how to join the 3rd Bootle Scouts waiting list and how we match places with young people on the list.
How to join the waiting list
If you would like to add a young person to the waiting list, please complete the waiting list form.
For a young person to be added to the waiting list, the following details must be supplied:
- Young person’s full name
- Young person’s date of birth
- Parent/Carer’s full name
- Parent/Carer’s address and postcode
- Parent/Carer’s phone number
- Parent/Carer’s email.
Allocation of places
Usually, places are allocated on a first come first served basis, however, the following criteria are used when allocating places:
- The young person is already a member of 3rd Bootle Scouts and is moving up from the section below eg Cubs to Scouts
- A parent or other adult family member volunteers at 3rd Bootle as a Leader, Assistant Leader or Section Assistant.
- The young person is already a member of another scout group within Altside and has been transferred via OSM
- The young person has a sibling who is already a member of 3rd Bootle Scouts
- The young person is already a member of another scout group outside of Altside and has been transferred via OSM.
If a young person waiting for a particular section does not obtain a place in time to join that section, then they will remain on the list for the next section above.
After all of the above have been considered, the amount of time spent on the waiting list will be considered as a factor.
Get involved
Our Group relies on the efforts of adult volunteers without whom it would simply not continue. We always need more adult volunteers. Therefore, we give a high priority to those on the waiting list who have an adult family member who is willing and able to take on a role within the Group.
